Sentiment: using ivory or white cardstock, cut 1 – 2”
nesting Doily Circle; then stamp the sentiment “It’s your Birthday”
from the *HCPC
3388 Spring Cardinals with Smokey Plum ink.
Flowers, Leaves and
Butterfly: Fussy cut a large
Aster flower with a leaf from a page in the HCDP1 226 Delicate Asters Paper Pad. Using HCD 726 Delicate Asters Die cut 1 med-large flower, 2
small-med flowers, 2 small & 2 tiny flowers in Plum cardstock; cut 1
med-large flower, 2 small-med flowers, 2 small, 2 extra small & 2 tiny
flowers in Cotton Candy cardstock and wet emboss the ends of the petals with
Versa Mark and Zing Embossing powder (Winter White, then Transparent Opal); use
Mardi Gras glimmer mist to alter color of a few flowers; and then use petal
tools to form petals, before layering. Now
build flowers and set aside.
Cut 2 leaves using HCD 726 Delicate Asters Die and ivory cardstock. Unless you
have a coordinating stamp to create a vine impression in the leaves, simulate
by drawing them in with a fine tip marker. (Tip: use petal tools to help form
leaves and create realistic vines.) Set aside.
Punch or use a die
cut butterfly; wet emboss different colors using Zing and Lindy’s embossing
powder, as shown. Apply Glossy Accents
over the embossed area, and then sprinkle Rock Candy Dry Glitter. Set aside
while drying.
Card base: Cut 2 circles from the HCDP1 226 Delicate Asters Paper Collection, using the 5” Spellbinders circle die. Distress edges of
circles first with Smokey Plum Ink, then lightly go over it with Colonial White
to give a cloudy affect.
Part #1- Using Plum cardstock (5 ½ x 5 ½), place over 5” Circle Doily
die; adhere one 5” print circles and decorate as shown. Set aside.
Part #2- Fold 5 ½ “x11” Plum cardstock in half (5 ½ x 5 ½); place over
5” Circle Doily die; leaving folded portion slightly inside the die, to insure
that the folded portion of the card base is not cut completely. After die is
removed, open card base and score top portion of card in half. Add 5” print
circle to bottom portion and decorate as shown. Adhere Part #1 to top scored
portion of part #2. Sit card up in easel form and enjoy!

Page: Cut center out of
the middle of the floral embossed plum paper, to create a frame. Cut 1/8” from
each side of the Plum paper. Choose 3 -12 x 12 print papers from HCDP1 226 Delicate Asters Paper Pad; 1 sheet will be the background showing through the torn
edges, 1- will be the main page which will be stamped on, and a portion of the
last page will cover the exposed folded corner. Take 1” off each side of the background paper,
and then adhere to the backside of the plum floral frame. Using 1 12x12 sheet
of Sweet Leaf Cardstock as a mat, center and adhere plum paper to Sweet leaf
cardstock. Cut main print paper slightly bigger than the frame created. Use
edge distressing tool to rough up the edges. Tear the paper in certain
areas…and in the center for a more distressed and worn look. Using blending
tool and Smokey Plum Ink, add color to distressed edges. Adhere contrasting
paper from the collection to the corner before folding and adhering in place.
Add crystal brad, and secure fold to front of page. Before adhering to frame,
brush Rock Candy Stickles to all areas that will be exposed; and then sprinkle
Rock Candy Dry Glitter. Adhere to frame.
Stamp
images in open areas with *HCPC 3496 Delicate
Twining Asters PreCut Set. Fill in color using Distress
Markers and blending the colors with the water brush. Cut flourishes from Spellbinders
Shapeabilities Jewel Flowers and Flourishes using Sweet Leaf cardstock and
brush with Rock Candy Stickles. Add to page under flower placement as shown. Cut
2 lattice flourish using HC Perfect
Petals die in Plum and a coordinating paper from the collection to create a shadowing
affect, and then place above flourishes, under flower placement as shown. |

Using HCD 726 Delicate Asters Die cut 2 large flowers, 3 med-large flowers,
4 small-med flowers, 6 small, 12 tiny flowers in Pink cardstock & 4 tiny flowers in sweet leaf; Use 3 tiny pink petals and 1 Sweet Leaf petal to create dimensional bud. Use small petal tool with the molding mat; form each bud by moving the petal tool in a circular motion in the center of each petal; and then adhere the 3 pink and 1 green, squeezing the base of the buds tightly. Lightly separate and fluff petals. For larger flowers, use some petals on the textured side and some on the reverse. Distress textured petals with blending tool and Smokey Plum ink. Brush reversed petals with Rock Candy Stickles; after they are dry, then use petal tools to form petals, before layering. Now build flowers and add gum drop centers. Set aside. (Tip: I made my gum drop centers using the tops of brads, glue dots and Stickles Dry Glitter for a sugaring affect.)
